Looking Better–Natalie

Well what a day we had yesterday, I got a call from the hospital asking me to come in as Natalie was in a right state, I had to call Chris from work as he had the car so we both set off for the hospital together.

When we got there bless her she was in a state, both sides of her face puffed up and swollen and it turned out that they were going to have to remove a tooth as this was the reason behind the infection, it was at the root of the tooth she had had work on a year ago. Unfortunately they couldn’t put her to sleep and she was terrified. It wasn’t the thought of them taking out the tooth but the thought of them touching her face as it was so very painful.

They asked me if I would go with her but I declined and very nicely volunteered her Dad. I can’t bare to see my girls go though stuff like that and couldn’t even go with them for baby vaccines Chris always had to do it.

They tried to inject and freeze the area which left Natalie crying out with the pain, they left it a little while and it did freeze, they had to cut around the tooth then they managed to extract it, her Dad said the only way to describe it was by saying it was like popping the cork out of a champagne bottle as the poison in her face just poured out from where the tooth had been and it just kept on coming out. So some of the swelling has gone down.

Natalie came back from having it removed with the doctor but not her Dad, he went quite queasy and considering he is a fireman and deals with some of the most gruesome of events it was unusual but he said it was a total different kettle of fish when it’s your own daughter your dealing with.

We left Natalie to get home and grab some rest before returning for the evening visit. When we got back to the hospital her friend was there and we could see that Natalie was unwell, she had been vomiting and she said that she felt very lethargic and very weak.

The smell of all the nastiness coming out of her is gross to say the least. We managed to get her lay down and back off to sleep before we came away.

We are praying she gets a good nights sleep and is much betting in the morning.

Oh poor Natalie. Sending her wishes to feel better tomorrow -I never took the girls to get their shots either, Keith always did!! I do not do needles and I never wanted to be the mean mom!!!

She should be much better now the poison is out Jak, i was like that when i had the abscess's, it was instant relief for me when it burst and she should be much much better tomorrow. Good for you sending Chris in with Natalie lol. Bet he would rather be doing his job than doing that again.

Give her a huge hug from me.

Have been following Natalie's harrowing experience, Jak. Poor girl, she really has gone through a lot. Glad to hear they have now removed the source of the problem and hope that Natalie recovers soon. Love to all.

Poor thing, how awful! And mom thought it was an abscessed tooth to begin with! Why can't they listen to moms more often and save some suffering. Don't blame you for not going in with her but I'm certainly relieved to hear she's on the mend and hopefully, at the end of the swelling and pain.

Oh Jak, what a time you've all had ... but so thankful to hear the news tonight. Let's hope that you can now all get some rest (and maybe a little sleep yourself!) and that by morning things will be much improved. Bad enough poor Natalie having the tooth out but then to start vomiting afterwards ... probably all the poison causing that. Hopefully you will see a different Natalie later this morning (it's now 1 a.m.) and we'll all be reading a happier posting from you. Love and hugs xx

Oh bless her little cotton socks, what an ordeal poor Natalie has had to go through. I should imagine the pain was dreadful and it made my stomach churn a wee bit thinking about what she had to put up with. What a brave girl she is, hopefully it won't take too long for the infection to clear now, the thought of that mess draining through the mouth with make me vomit let alone feel nauseous, the poor lamb.
Sending lots of love and big hugs for you all...

So pleased they've found the cause, Jak. I did wonder when you said it wasn't a tooth at the start as I had a bad infection from a tooth when I was young and woke up looking like a gargoyle! Fortunately my dentist recognised it and sent to to the dental hospital straight away.
It should go down and the pain subside now the poisin is draining - poor girl, I so feel for her.
Love to you all and may your New Year be less eventful!

Hope she is much better when you go in today Jak. You did exactly what I would have done, volunteer dad - used to get my mum to take the babies for their injections, couldn't stand them being hurt.

How awful! I, too, am terrified of dentists-they give me strong med that allows me to know what they are doing-but I don't care or feel as much. Poor girl! Prayers for continued recovery--and fast! And for Mum and Dad! Blessings, Sharon

Here's hoping that soon Natalie will be home again and all that infection she is having to cope with too as well as the pain is finally able to be treated. My daughter had the same thing and it's so awful to watch them go through the mill like that Jak.
All the very best for 2012 and hope no more troubles come to your door, you all have had more than your share this year. Hugs Vee xx

Hi Jak,
I know first hand what pain Natalie has and is going through, but there will be release now that the poison is draining. Some years ago I got a cyst in my chin and it sat at the roots of my 4 front teeth. Before they could remove it I had to have four root canal fillings, I thought the pain and toothache was bad up to then but for what came next OMG. The dentist burst the cyst with the needle he was using to numb my mouth and released the poion into my face, I was rushed into the dental hospital as I didn't even have a neck shape anymore and my face was losing all it's features in the swelling. They cut me with a scalpal inside my mouth with out anasthetic, they did have to hold me down but there just was no time and then fitted a drain., then they operated to remove the cyst and then I recovered quite quickly.

I so hope Natalie gets back to normal real soon, sending her lots of love, hugs and saying some prayers too. Nobody can imagine the pain unless you've been there, it's a living hell.

I wish Natalie all the best for a quick recovery now that they have removed the cause of the trouble.
Chris is right when he said it is different when your own family are involved. I was a nurse, but I nearly fainted when they had to 'pop, my baby daughter's shoulder back into place after her Dad had been pulling her up by the arms from the cot - she thought it was fun to start with!!
