So we arrived at Thirsk around lunch time there were six of us my brother Alan and his wife Audrey, Keith and Cath who were also with us last year and Chris and myself. We had dinner at Weatherspoons in Thirsk and then headed up to the local Butchers for some homemade pork pies for the evening.
We got to our hotel around 2:30pm (Whitehorse Lodge) same as last year a few pics of the lodge.
Warm welcome
Comfy bed
A bit of wall art too
Oh and of course a new hair colour for the occasion
So onto the proms, we arrived at 16:10 and quickly found our spot
We set up camp and tucked into our picnic got out the flags and prepared for an awesome evening. As you can see this is the start where everyone is trying to find the perfect piece of land to settle down.
Within 20 minutes the pieces of land available became sparse.
My brother Alan rose to the challenge of having his face painted
Audrey my sister in law swore she was painting Alans face but from this shot I just know she was getting all lovey dovey with him and this looks like a fully blown snog to me but I’ll let you all make up your own mind.
Chris, Cath and Keith basking in the sun, we were so blessed with the weather.
Audrey and I got into the swing of things
The views were breath taking.
The music was breath taking and the atmosphere was awe inspiring
For those of you that don’t know what the Proms is, it is a night of classical music, all the stuff that you would know like The Hebrides Overture, Lakme Flower Duet, Land of Hope and Glory, 1812 Overture, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Pomp and Circumstance No1
This is the British Classical Group Amore who were snapped up by Warner bros and where signed up immediately to a Six album deal.
Only Men Aloud the welsh male choir were also amazing.
And when the sun went down we sang and cheered waving our flags and some even danced the night away.
So until next year.
