MRI scan

I have my MRI scan today, apparently you have to make sure that all jewellery is removed, no metal zippers allowed because it is a magnetic scan, so I started to ponder about the glitter in my nail varnish, I had visions of my being stuck inside the scanner hanging in there by my fingernails.

So all that said, I’m going bare, no nail varnish and apparently no make- up, even mascara is banned, no underwired bra eeeek, I’m hoping that I have no glitter from card making attached anywhere on my body.

If you don’t here from me by 8pm tonight please send out the cavalry to come and free me.

I do have one more concern, the scan lasts 30 minutes during which time you are lay horizontal, due to my lack of good nights sleep it may be that I fall asleep during this, I guess laying on my back I could end up snoring like a gissy pig…. oh the shame of it. Chris is coming along for moral support and I can see him retiring to the car in shame.

Good luck Jak. it's so hard not to move a muscle for 30 minutes. I had an MRI recently too but was lucky enough to be able to take my own music to listen too. Now got to have another one on my head think they must be in search of my brain this time.

Good Luck Jak! Hopefully it will be an open MRI and you'll have music to listen too!

Good luck Jak but, unless you're mega tired, you've no chance of falling asleep. MRI's are very, very noisy! Headphones and music is the way to go. They will probably have a choice but you can take your own - or you can in this area. I've sat with Mum in the past, when she had one because of her claustrophobia and I've had one on my hip but didn't have to go right through, although I kept eye shades on as I didn't want to know how close I had to be taken to being the full way in ....

Hope they gave you a large amount of valium and did you take out your navel piercing jewels? Sometimes they are forgotten.. The pounding of the machine might just keep you awake, don't worry about snoring.

Good luck Jak, we are all thinking or you and sending good vibes!!
Have a good sleep while you are there, if you nod off you obviously need it, ha ha.
I hope all goes well. Hugs Lesley x

Hi Jak,
Good luck. When I had mine, they put ear phones on me to listen to their music. Also I had to strip off and wear one of their gowns you know the ones - those that cover you at the front and have a slit right up the back. Lovely!!

Hope all has gone well Jak, (I'm assuming the deed has been done), and that it helps your consultant to discover the remedy for your problems.

Good luck Jak, but I can honestly say that you won't sleep as the Magnet in the M.R.I. Scanner is so loud....but at least no radiation is used...hope you don't have to wait to long for your results.... Hugs. X

Wishing you all the best Jak. Your post was definitely funny....I am stuck with this image of you hanging by your fingernails. :-)

Hi Jak, hope the scan went ok, as you will know by now they're too noisy to sleep in! Having had 3 or 4 myself I remember all the concerns the first one I had - but well worth it because you do get results and appropriate treatment after a scan.
Hope you're feeling ok now and you get your results soon!

Hugs

Hope everything went well for you and you are snoring in your own bed!!!! When I was diagnosed with my cancer (it will be 4 years November 2012) because it went into my bones slightly I had to have all sorts of scans so I do appreciate what you mean. Lots of hugs and hope to hear from you soon.

Good Luck Jak
I will be thinking of you, I had to have one done last year because of a car accident left me with back problems. The noise of the machine will hide any snoring so go for it and have that well deserved nap

I've had a total of 3 in my life and they are just so darn loud-but they do provide the results the Dr's need to help diagnose and treat us...Hope you get some answers soon. I had mine done 2 months ago-go back for results end of this month.
