Crochet perfect for Traveling

I always struggled when holidaying wondering what to take to occupy my crafty mind and twitchy fingers on evenings and last year I learnt myself how to crochet.

A ball of yarn and a crochet hook and your ready to go.

Chris had a few worries on what I was making, he thinks the top picture needs tassels, and the bottom left he thought I was making a Sun hat. The bottom right picture is a cactus which is growing on our balcony and on an evening it looks like Jesus is watching over the beautiful sea.

All will be revealed to what I am making when I get back from my travels.

(For the record, that is my knee in the top picture)

It is a beautiful sound waking up each morning to the waves crashing on the shore.

Cosy cup of Rosy Lee

A new Tea Cosy for my teapot. Both Chris and I love a full bodied cup of builders tea so we like to brew it the old fashioned way in a teapot.

I got out the crochet hook and set to, it fits nice and snug.

Anyone fancy a cuppa?

just cant get enough of making these little sets.
This time it is a baby giraffe hat and diaper cover.
Giraffe
Love the ears on this one.
Even better is that they make up so quickly, they are all done on large crochet hooks.

Adventures of Ted (crochet)

I just couldn’t resist dressing Ted in the Photo Props before I handed them over.

crochet hats and Hammock

I’ve loads more ideas to make more props so I have a feeling my hooks are going to be very busy.

Crochet photography

I have to day that the title of this is a bit tongue in cheek, what I have actually been doing is making crochet photography props.

We have friends in the photography business and when they told me what they wanted for their baby photography I jumped at the chance to help out.

I can't wait to see the first photographs done with the props.

So here is what I have made so far, no babies with my photography just the items.

Flower hat.

An aviator hat.

Long tailed elf hat.

And then this one, a newborn baby Hammock, I didn't have a baby to put inside it but I did have a beautiful Steiff Bear. Hammock was made with a Super Chunky Chanille yarn.

Baby Crochet

I guess you thought I'd gone missing but, to be honest, I've been so busy, I've totally fell in love with crochet. I've finished two baby sets which I will show you today, a baby girl set and a baby boy set.

First up is the boy set, love the little loafers, buttons and Pom Pom.

Cute as a button.

Of course no set would be complete without the little booties (shoes)

Moving onto the baby girl set.

Just how cute is this little hat?

Now I have to be honest and say the girl hat gave me a few problems, I first tried a bonnet but it turned out mahousive.

In fact, this big.

Grandson Jack was only too happy to model it for me, he is such a funny little chap.

Crochet Baby Booties and Blanket

No we have no new babies planned for the family as yet but I just needed to crochet and thought that I could start a bottom drawer for my youngest. You can bet your bottom Dollar that when the time does come around this way I can be prepared.
First up is the Booties I had a basic crochet pattern but adapted it to have a sock top with a roll down cuff, the pattern I had stopped at the ruffle and then tied with ribbon at the back, I'm not so keep on cords and loose ribbon on baby clothes and figured this way they wouldn't keep dropping off the baby little foot.

My Blanket is ongoing and I think I will add a scalloped edge to it to finish it off but it is coming along very nicely.

Toastie Crochet Slippers

I said I would show you as soon as I got them finished and here they are, I made them over two nights.

My Mam spends most of her time on her bed as this is where she is most comfortable, on Christmas Day she mentioned that she could do with some bed slippers to keep her toes toastie and I figured that I should do something about it.

I hope she'll like them.

Lamb Chops

So here we are nearing the end of 2014. I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas, we have had a family filled one and that is something to cherish.

I learned myself a new craft this last year which is crochet, I absolutely love it, I sit watching TV with Chris and crochet, in the winter months making a crochet blanket keeps your knees warm too.

I have just finished this little darling made with Alpaca wool and last night I started a pair of crochet slippers for my Mam, she had said that she wanted some for while she was sat on the bed to keep her toes cozy, so I'll let you see them as soon as I get them finished.

Cute huh?

And a close up of him sitting on my lap

So a big thank you for all of your support this year. I have had many changes the biggest being my career.

Thank you so much for sticking with me and the wonderful comments you have left, I appreciate it so so much.

Dobbin the Crochet Donkey

My latest crochet animal is here, Dobbin the Donkey and this little Character will be going to the receptionist at Create and Craft, Marie has been looking after me for several years and is always interested in what I am up to, she admired both the Lion and the Bunny that I made and wanted both of them so I know he will be going to a good home.

Many of you have asked where I am getting the patterns from, it is a book called Edwards Managerie.

Meet Parsley the Crochet Lion

A new crochet friend completed, this is Parsley made for my eldest daughter Lauren.

Both of my girls fell in love with these crochet animals and as Natalie took the bunny Maisy then it is only right that Lauren got her choice of animals so I set to work making the lion for her.

This is how I fill in my nights at the hotel while I'm away from home.
