Back to School with Spectrum Noirs

As a few of you had asked my opinion on Spectrum Noirs I thought it would be nice to road test them and give them a whirl, so here goes.

Firstly an image coloured with them.

Back to School by Mo’s Digital Pencil  was my image choice to try out the pens, one of the first things that I notice about the pens was that the nib needed to be primed by that I mean scribbling on a scrap piece of card to get the ink through to the nib, this ensured it would be wet enough to blend colours successfully, I also got best result by laying down the light shades first then building up the darker areas and then going back to the lighter shade and dragging from the dark through to the light shade.

In honesty a good value for money pen and can’t wait to see more shades in it.

For me the downside to the Spectrum Noirs has to be this….

spectrum noirs

My husband Chris thinks that he has shares on them ha ha.

They won’t stop me using other brands I still love my Promarkers and my Copic pens instead I will use them alongside my others and they do deserve a place alongside them..

Great card Jak,loving the pinks.

I saw these pens on Create & Craft when they were launched and didn't think they blended as well as smoothly as Promarkers so i won't be getting them.

We don't have the spectrum Noirs here yet. I've just bought the prisma markers and love them. You colour so nicely no matter what you use. I think its hilarious that you have to share with your husband!

Always good to hear others opinions of new products especially since these pens appear to be quite a bit cheaper than PM's and copics - thanks for sharing

I've been collecting Promarkers but still need a lot of shades, so I'm tempted to try these new pens to help complete my colour collections as they're so much cheaper. I wonder if they'll blend well with Promarkers?
