This and That and a Crafty Stash

For those that know me well they will know that I hide my fear for going out on my own very well, many think that my humour portrays an outgoing nature that is fearless when in fact it is a mask that hides the real scaredy cat that I really am.

I wasn't always like that, I used to be totally fearless and ready to conquer the world, however I do like my own company and I have to force myself to venture out, Chris often says that if not for him I would become a recluse and in honesty I have to agree.

So this weekend I took a massive step into the unknown and went into a public house on my own for dinner. The Crown at Elton, I did go with Chris last month so I knew where it was, I had the Fish and Chips again and it was delishious.

So on to today, I have a lot of time to fill as I don't need to be at Create and Craft until 5pm ready for the 7pm show so what to do???

It came to me in a lightbulb flash.......go craft shopping.

So I did just that and headed over to Sir Stampalot. If you have never been you are missing out, it is full of crafty goodness and they are ever so welcoming.

So what did I buy?

This little lot, a cordless glue gun, new cutting blades for my paper trimmer, 2 packets of buttons, some pearly ribbon and a new Memory Box die set.

Gift Box from One Day Wonder

It was 6 years ago that I first used this origami folder flower and yet it is still one that gives the wow factor today.

I used the Topsi Turvy card stock from Create and Craft and also the Rainbow Cardstock for the flowers.

Isn't it pretty? I used a snowflake die by Memory Box and a sheet of the mirror card in gold to further embellish the box.

And I even found the original link that I used to make the flowers.

Back at Create and Craft TV

I've took some time out from my building site home and I am at Create and Craft for the next 8 days, I'm hoping by the time I get home I will see a vast improvement although poor Chris is at work all week too so maybe we will just get stuck into the decorating when I get home.

I do hope you will join me next week I know there will be some fabulous offers and I have some wonderful things to show you. Please send in an email if you are watching I appreciate them so very much.

This is my schedule of my shows so hopefully you will catch some of them.

Privileged a Mo Manning Original

The doorbell chimed to the tune of the floral dance and I did my usual cringe that I do every time it chimes, Chris programmed it when we first got it and to be honest he was thrilled to bits with the result, I however try to let it finish before I open the door but as I have the builders in they had already laughed their socks off at the sound coming out of it.

I opened the door to a delivery driver asking for Jak Heath As the parcel had to be signed for. I advised that I was Jak to which he looked me up and down obviously expecting Jak to be of the male variety.

I saw Mo's name on the box and immediately became very excited to the amusement of the builders. I took my scissors and carefully opened up the box, I didn't know what was inside but I thought I had better open it carefully.

For those of you that don't yet know of Mo Manning she is a very talented artist friend who never ceases to amaze me, she writes and illustrates children's books, creates the most amazing image stamps for the crafting world both in Rubber and as Digital images.

The contents of the box just left me speechless, something that is a rarity for me. This is something that I totally fell in love with when Mo created it.

Meet Mary Lennox, created on 18th January 2014

Isn't she gorgeous, the concentration in her face, so very studious for such a dainty soul

And the little robin peeping out from behind her.

The back view.

I will truly treasure this.

Thank you Mo x

Renovations Update

We are getting there slowly, hopefully we will see much more improvement by the end of play on Monday. Here is a few photos of where we are up to.

The window wall, still awaiting the rising damp treatment, it has had the coating to stop any more sulphur coming through so at least the first step has been done.

This is the pantry off shot, it has had the same anti sulphur treatment and it now has a new ceiling.

The other walls have been skimmed and are finished just awaiting paint, new skirting boards and coving.

Once all is finished on the walls the carpet will come up ready for painting and skirting boards then when all is finished a new carpet will be laid.

Preston Park

I had to get out of this house this weekend, the renovations are just dragging me down and what better way to cheer me up than getting out in the fresh air.

Every year Preston park has a fire engine themed weekend from vintage to present day engines on display and an arena with regular events on show to please and delight onlookers.

There is stalls with arts and crafts and local traders and all in the beautiful grounds of the Preston Hall museum.

I had to giggle while going in to the event when I spotted this little girl giving her pet dog a ride in the back of her bicycle.

If you live close to this event it is well worth a visit and it is on tomorrow too.

Growing Mushrooms

What a week I've had and it's only Wednesday.
We knew this year we were going to have to sort out the back room to our house, the wall leading to the outside of the house was damp and the little pantry offshot was very damp.
I got the shock of my life when bottoming the back room, I went to close a door which is always open up against the wall and was faced with the most wonderful large specimen of a mushroom. I just sat and cried. I wanted to move house, somewhere that was new and not over 100 years old as ours is.
Thankfully we know a builder who is wonderful and he is here as I type knocking the walls back to brick ready to treat them, then rebuild them back.
I did however catch him doing his Oor Wullie impression sitting on a bucket in the yard catching a sneaky break.
Now I know you all want to see the specimen that I found so here it is in all of its glory.
Isn't it a beauty?
