Proms–Castle Howard

So we arrived at Thirsk around lunch time there were six of us my brother Alan and his wife Audrey, Keith and Cath who were also with us last year and Chris and myself. We had dinner at Weatherspoons in Thirsk and then headed up to the local Butchers for some homemade pork pies for the evening.

We got to our hotel around 2:30pm (Whitehorse Lodge) same as last year a few pics of the lodge.

Warm welcome

Comfy bed

A bit of wall art too

Oh and of course a new hair colour for the occasion

So onto the proms, we arrived at 16:10 and quickly found our spot

9
We set up camp and tucked into our picnic got out the flags and prepared for an awesome evening. As you can see this is the start where everyone is trying to find the perfect piece of land to settle down.

1
Within 20 minutes the pieces of land available became sparse.

4

My brother Alan rose to the challenge of having his face painted

6

Audrey my sister in law swore she was painting Alans face but from this shot I just know she was getting all lovey dovey with him and this looks like a fully blown snog to me but I’ll let you all make up your own mind.

7

Chris, Cath and Keith basking in the sun, we were so blessed with the weather.

5

Audrey and I got into the swing of things

13

The views were breath taking.

8

The music was breath taking and the atmosphere was awe inspiring

10

For those of you that don’t know what the Proms is, it is a night of classical music, all the stuff that you would know like The Hebrides Overture, Lakme Flower Duet, Land of Hope and Glory, 1812 Overture, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Pomp and Circumstance No1

This is the British Classical Group Amore who were snapped up by Warner bros and where signed up immediately to a Six album deal.

14

Only Men Aloud the welsh male choir were also amazing.

15

And when the sun went down we sang and cheered waving our flags and some even danced the night away.

11

So until next year.

Doctors Update

I am so pleased that I finally got around to going back to the Doctors, I won't bore you with all the details but the outcome was good, I'm getting a referral to have a MRI scan, I'm also getting a referral to see about getting some sticks, something to help on bad days or if I will be on my feet for a long time.

I got wrong for leaving it so long it was over 3 years since I went to the doctors about my back and had a bone density scan, I never went back because they said it was normal ware and tear, I took that it meant what was happening was normal and that I must just be soft when it actually meant that the bone density scan was normal. Silly really.

So until I get all of the appointments through I will plod on and keep taking the pain killers.

A Card with a Twist

I simply adore Dickensian images and this one just ticks all the boxes for me.

More by Mo’s Digital Pencil, Mo Manning does a ragged range of digital stamps and they are all fabulous, this one is based on Oliver.

I used the 1.5" Natural Burlap Teal/White Stripe Edge Wired Ribbon from Ribbon Carousel as it had just the right look for the image.

I told you it had a Twist (Oliver Twist)

I off to the Proms at Castle Howard today, I’ve packed a rain mac and a fleece blanket and my wellington boots and some heat patches for my back, I’ll try to get some pictures. I will update you on Sunday about my Doctors appointment.

Prim Poppy and Tessatina Border–Memory Box Dies Card

I wanted to do a simple card with some dies that I have been itching to use, Prim Poppy and Tessatina Border dies by Memory Box.

I was just testing them out but I’m thrilled with the card, Clean and Simple although took a little while to work out what to do with them.

Prim Poppy_Tessatina border1

I cut the Prim Poppy twice and layered the heads of the poppy with some foam padsthen glued them onto the red card and took my black fineliner by letraset and drew on the stamens.

The Tessatina border was cut twice and joined together to look like a trestle and carefully glued in place onto the white base card.

I used an EK success border punch on spare white card then tied a beautiful 1” White Grosgrain Ribbon from Ribbon Carousel around it then glued it in place.

Finished off with a couple of matching stick pearls and some flat backed pearls in the corners of the red card.
