Plain Sailing

I’ve really struggled to make a card this last week or so, you get times like that don’t you? life gets so busy and on top of the hustle and bustle of life we nearly have Christmas upon us.

I was lucky enough to get the cold that has been doing it’s round and I still have the hacking cough to prove it, you know the type, the one that waits until you have warmed up in bed then starts until you are so hot and bothered from coughing that you fling the blankets off only to freeze your nads off later. Hey Ho.

So I needed something to ease me back into colouring and this ticked all of the boxes.

Galleon from Just Inklined it is a pencil lined digital stamp and the beauty of this is that the shading in the stamp helps immensely when colouring, it makes it so easy to colour.

Gallion1

I coloured this one with Copic markers as I only have a limited palette in Graph’It although I will add more to my range because I love them.

I used chalk pencils to create the sky.

Gallion2

Clean and simple style with a little bit of designer paper and a button and hemp cord.

Angelina’s Balloons

As a child I remember rubbing a balloon on my hair to make the balloon static and sticking it on walls, on someone's back or anywhere that I could get it to stick. Of course my children did it too and in fact their Dad (Chris) still does it, I don’t think he will ever grow up ha ha!

Angelina’s Balloons from Mo’s Digital Pencil

Angelinas balloons1

I made an easel card with the image as I really didn’t know where I was going with it, I first punched out the heart on the card with the image and tied a bow around the top, knowing that it needed something else I matted it with blue card and then it sat there on my desk for a little while, I often do this, mainly because once I start colouring I get so carried away that I end up colouring several images up. So this was the one I played with a little until I was happy.

Angelinas balloons2

I coloured her in Blue, did you know that way way back Pink was a boys colour and Blue a girls?

Bewitched–Graph’It and Metallic Pan Pastels

I had a play with the metallic Pan Pastels, such intense colour, I had such amazing results using a Versafine ink pad and the copper Pan Pastels that I thought I would share it with you.

The fun of trying new products is in the experimenting don’t you think?

I used Tabitha by Mo’s Digital Pencil for my image as she is such a peach with her little kitty in hand.

Tabitha1

I used a shimmer deep purple card and edged it with the versafine ink pad and a swirl stamp then dabbed on the metallic Copper Pan Pastel, the colour was rich and intense.

I used a cheap hairspray to set the Pastel.

Tabitha was coloured with the Graph’ It Markers available at Polka Doodles , again intense vibrant colour that makes your images pop.

Colours used

Green - Pistachio, Lime and Tuscany

Orange - Apricot, Mango and Halloween

Skin – Cotton, Powder, Skin and princess Rose for the blush

Graph’It Markers

So.. what is all the fuss about, a Graph’It marker boasting to having around 20% more ink than many leading brands of alcohol markers with a range of around 158 colours 2 high quality nibs Chisel and fine bullet and also now an extra add on of a brush marker to replace the chisel tip.
What did I find
  1. Oh so Juicy, yes, the bullet nib was amply wet.
  2. Blending, very easy to blend with, a combination of the juicy nib (ink staying wet long enough to allow a smooth blend) and good tonal colours.
  3. marker shape fits and feels nice to hold.
  4. Transition from using my markers I often use to the Graph’It markers was easy.
I coloured this in 5 or so minutes using a Digi Stamp from Mo’s Digital Pencil, First Fish

I used no other medium bar the Graph’It markers.
Skin:- 4115, 4135, 4155.
Hat, Trousers and Hair:- 1250, 3110, 3140
Shirt:- 7125, 7130, 7170.
Impressed? I am.

Compitition.

Mo had a great idea yesterday... so we decided to have some extra fun last night with the images from the “Owl the Same….or Not” blog hop.
For the hop we demonstrated how following a specific theme is not the same as copying, and now we are showing that looking at someone else’s art and drawing from it is copyright infringement…even if you make some changes to the image and do not trace. (I think we all agree that tracing is copying.)
Mission Copycat: We randomly selected another artist’s drawing and used that image as a reference to create a new drawing. As an extra twist, one of the copycat drawings is done by a not-so-secret Copycat Bandit…someone who does not draw on a regular basis. (Thanks, Jak!!) She did such a great job! We all agreed that if she decided to be a criminal, she co...uld go into the digital stamp business like other copycats, and she could successfully sell her “art” as stamps.
Originality is what makes something art, and creating something original takes creativity and time. It was eye-opening to see how quickly the copied drawings could be completed--a fraction of the time an original piece takes, as quickly as 15 minutes in some cases. It is a lot less work to fill a store with images by copying the work of someone else…much easier than trying to provide a variety of images that are original.
Remember, our own Copycat Bandit (who does not draw for a living) was able to draw a nice illustration by copying. She proved for us how easy it is to go into business by being a copyright infringer.

CONTEST!!

Now more FUN! See if you can guess who copied whom. There are prizes involved!! Everyone who guesses all of the copycats will have a chance to win a free digi or shop credit from the blog hop shops. Enter by sending an email to stampoutevents@gmail.com. The email should have a list from 1-6 and you can fill in who you think did the copy. The copied images are numbered and on the right of the originals, see the graphic provided. Your choices are Mabelle, Faith, Lori, Mo, Jak, and Elizabeth. Have fun!!See More

Thank you Faith for organising this.
