Revert Back to IE 8 from Internet Explorer 9 Beta

Well to say I have been on a journey would be an understatement. I did what most of us do and when my computer asked me to update to Internet Explorer 9 Beta I jumped right to it.
I learned that blogger hated it, it wouldn't let me change colour of the fonts, add links to wording, spell check (believe me I need that one), centralise my posts or any of the usual editing tools. It hated downloads and when you are buying mp3 music or digi stamps it was a nightmare.
I tried Google Chrome and it was a little better but still hit and miss, Safari but it was a bit of a learning curve.
I soon realised that I needed to revert back to IE8, I thought that this could be done by re- downloading IE8 but no I couldn't.

So I started a google search of how to correct this problem I had.
I soon came across a site that helped me immensely and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy.
So if like me you are tearing your hair out and need to go back to IE8 this is what you need to do.

1. Go to your Control panel and find the Add and Remove Program icon and click on it.
2.when the new window opens look for the wording View Installed Programs and click on the wording.
3. This will bring up a list of all of the programs that you have updated.
4. Scroll down the list until you find Windows Internet Explorer 9 then click on the wording and then choose uninstall.
5. It will ask you are sure you want to uninstall this update Click YES
6. Once it has uninstalled it will prompt you to restart your computer, you must do this for the action to complete.
7. You may need to go through the process of set up for IE8 (it did it automatically for our 2 computers)

If you are still unsure here is the site that gives you step by step pictures to this.

Thank you Jak for going to such trouble with this post. TG I do not have this problem but if I did me thinks the computer would end up in the garden with the wild ducks!!

I did the same thing Jak! IE8 was working just fine so why mess up a good thing. I uninstalled--in a hurry!
I don't comment a lot here but I really do appreciate all the wonderful creativity you share with us and the files you share. Have a great weekend!

Thank You so much, Jak! After I installed it, I wanted to scream!! Nothing worked as well as before. I just uninstalled it, and it's like coming home after a trip to a foreign land where no one speaks English! LOL

Thanks Jak, that was very thoughtful of you to post the instructions for us! I know what you mean about the sphell ceck - lol !! I use firefox and had a major problem when I went up to their 4 beta - soon went back to my earlier version. It can have issues on some sites but not too much, best of all I can block adverts ... hope your troubles settle down.

I'm always wary about updating my browsers these days. I stay as far away from IE as possible, and when i saw how many of my add ons wouldn't work with FF4, decided THAT could wait a while, too!

Oh Jak, I feel for you, it is such a pain when things like that happen to us. I now use Google Chrome and have never regretted it...
Hope your happy now :-)

I run IE9 in compatibility mode folks . . . . works just fine for me - just in case you don't fancy the hassle of uninstalling. click on the box that looks like a sheet of paper torn in half on the top toolbar - just a thought, hope you don't mind me mentioning it here.

Thank you so much for passing on this information, I have updates waiting so I won't bother!!! It is very frustrating when something works perfectly one day and the next it doesn't. I'm afraid I am useless with computer jargon and very grasteful that you take the time to help us out. Thank you Jak.

I also had the same problem with IE9! Not only did it not play nice with Blogger, I couldn't load photos to any of my Ning sites either. I reverted back to IE8 and everything is fine. Thanks for sharing the info, Jak!

Good girl Jak. Just this morning I had to uninstall the latest Skype version as it was dreadful. I searched online and found something similar to yours. Then I reinstalled a much older version. Darn computers!

I did exactly the same as you Jak, I trusted it and did the update. I had to uninstall as well. I rely on attachments in my e-mail for my work and it wouldn't let me get to them. Even the paperclip attachment icon went missing. Keep an eye on it Jak (or anyone else with the same problem) - it still wants to do the same update time and time again. Be careful what you press. IE 9 is definitely not compatible with Windows Mail I am reliably informed and I think its a bit hit and miss with Windows 7 as well.
