Days Gone By

I want to share another restored photograph with you but before I do I have a card to show you.

The image used is a digi stamp called Petticoats Three by Just Inklined it is more of a pencil line that a thick solid line and it gives a softer finish. Don't you just love the vintage images?

Petticoat_three

I also used the most scrumptious ribbon from Ribbon Carousel this one is a two sided satin in silver and black. I pushed one of the prima pins through the ribbon knot.

So now on to the restored photograph.

This is the original photo.

And this is the restored and coloured Photo.

I know a few of you have asked what software I used, I used a combination of Coral Paint Shop pro and also Coral Draw graphic Suit. I don’t want any of you to rush out and buy it as you do need to know what you are doing as you need to use lots of different tools settings and shadings to get to this stage, it isn’t just a push of a button you have to colour each section individually.

Just to showcase the finished image I had to play and do a scrapbook layout.

Made using My Memories Suite  You can use my code for a discount of $10 if you wish to get the software for it. My code is STMMMS48868 Enter the code on the shopping cart page at My Memories Suite

Restoring Photographs

I think most of you will remember me telling you about my Dads Father and the photograph that I restored as they had very few photographs left as their home was bombed during the war.

Well yesterday A friend was trying to restore one of her families pictures and I couldn’t help myself in playing with it to help her out. I did get it looking better and then I recalled her saying that she would have loved to see it coloured so I gave it a go, I’d never attempted to colour an old black and white photograph but I figure if you don’t try you will never achieve.

The result was really good, obviously I couldn’t show her photographs as I haven’t asked permission so I then set to and did one of my own families.

I’ll show you the before and after so you can see the difference.

I didn’t remove all of the blemishes purely because I wanted to leave some of the old character intact.

Monochrome–Lala Saturated Canary

At times I like to run with colour and do something unexpected when colouring an image, this one, Lala from Saturated Canary Digi’s was perfect for this.

I’m not sure if I ever told you but I was a punk rocker in my younger days, my boyfriend had blue tipped hair and mine was pillow box red.

Lala is a real beauty so I coloured her eyes green and used the most gorgeous wine to pink in her hair with a complimentary muted pink in her dress.

The little butterflies were punched from a Tonic Studios border punch from the backing paper.

Blanche–Saturated Canary

You know how it is, you sit down to craft and a card just seems to take forever, your creative mojo seems to have taken a hike to a different part of the universe, you try this and that to make the card sing but you still aren’t happy with the end result. Everyone says that it’s lovely but you still aren’t happy with it.

Well that is how I have felt for weeks now. I can sit and colour for hours and hours but the making of the card has been a pain. That is until today…….

I coloured up my image, Blanche from Saturated Canary Digi’s  sat at my craft desk and everything just fell into place. I think this image has a striking resemblance to Sophia Loren with the Italian Chić don’t you?
