Dilemma

Well tomorrow 5th November 2008 at 11:30 am will be the day of Dads funeral.
As some of you know Dads trade at the pit (coal mine) was a blacksmith, he also enjoyed having a wee flutter on the horses.
We thought it would be fitting to have a horse drawn carriage hearse to take dad to church, now here is my dilemma, I would love to have a photograph of this as I think it should be remembered, I also think it will be quite beautiful, I'm not alone as my Mam and Brother both feel the same, would it be wrong to add it to my blog or would it upset anyone? I just don't know. All I know is I feel like I should preserve the memory.

IMHO it will be lovely for you to have a photo as a remembrance. You won't get a second chance but if you thought it inappropriate in the future you could do what you want with it. It will be something really special for future generations to look back on.
Your Dad would be proud that you have made a fitting farewell and I'd be proud to share your memories.

  24. I can't think for one minute why you wouldn't want to treasure your Dad's memory by having a photo of his departure from this world on your blog. I think he would be delighted, and surely that is what is important...what you and your Dad would have wanted.

  26. When my grandfather died a few years back, I wanted to take photos at the burial, but didn't. I regret it. He served in the military and the three-gun salute and flag ceremony is still burned into my mind. Just wish I had photos of it.

  30. I think it is a wonderful lasting memory of your Dad and his trade. The Horse Drawn Hearse's are fast disappearing, I know there only a few in the country and are in demand all over. You may even want to take photos for your own personal memory of the flowers .....do what YOU want not what you think others expect

  36. Jak I've not been online because of computer problems so just this minute heard your sad news. I'm so sorry. Your Dad had a wondeful smile, the photograph and prayer are just beautiful. I could just imagine him smiling at the horses, given they were such a big part of his life both in work and out of it. What a fitting way to carry him on his last journey. A photograph would be a real treasure for you all. It would probably be easier for a friend to take it than the direct family - just thinking on the practical side. It was lovely of you to share the photograph of your Dad so I personally think it would be a privilige to see one of his last journey. I will remember you all in my prayers tonight and tomorrow.
