Masquerade

Ok hands up, who is afraid of colour?
It's a funny old thing isn't it, so many rules, Blue and green should never be seen unless there's something in between..... unless of course it's lime green and vivid blue then that rule gets thrown out of the window.
Colours can clash but then again some clashes look good.
So throw the rule book out and use the colours you like, rules are mean't to be broken so go with what works for you.
I started a mask with Powertex, stone art and texture balls.

I decided I wanted something with a bit of sparkle so started adding some metallic acrylic paints.

I loved the effect over all of the texture that I had added

I blended one colour into the other as I didn't want any harsh lines.

So this is where I broke the blue and green rule. I think it works.

I'm quite pleased with the result.

So how about you? does colour scare you?

Garden Poppy with Stone Art Clay

As this is the last year of the WW1 Centenary 2014 to 2018, I wanted to commemorate this with something of my own.

Creating a Poppy from Stone Art clay and Powertex, It was quite a task to bring it all together as I wanted a large piece to put in the garden.

After making the poppy I created the seed pod.
My garden is mainly decking and plant pots so I popped them into my neighbours garden to so that you could see how good they look.

A little close up for you.

I will be running a workshop for these and I have added my next couple of workshops below with details of how to book for them.

Places fill fast for these so if you are wanting to book please don't leave it to last minute.

Creating Art Journals

Journal making is big fun, whats more is they are beautiful hand made craft gifts, you get the pleasure from making them and the receiver has the pleasure of owning them.
I can't remember the last time I had so much fun in creating.
Items used in the Journals are listed at the end of my post.

This first one was grabbed by my eldest Daughter. She fell in love with it.

So as you know, what you do for one you have to do for all so this one is my Youngest Daughters Journal.

So that meant I then had to make another to keep so mine was a Seascape one.
you can see that in more glory in the below video.

All Journal were created using Black Powertex Fabric Hardener
Moulds used where from Katy Sue Designs

Everyone decorated both front and back and have some spell pages to add inside.

This is a few pics of the one I prepared for the workshop.

And just to top off the month of January I was awarded this.

My working life just couldn’t be better.

There are so many terms and methods eg Swipe, Dirty Pour.
it looks messy but most of all it looks oooodles of fun.

Powertex Shoe Stampunk

I'm so busy at the moment with workshops and I also have an event upcoming so I have had several projects on the go at once, however, I thought you may like to see this one.

It started it's journey as a battered old shoe that was destined for the rubbish bin, My daughter thought I was crazy when I rescued it.
Mind you it took 3 weeks before I dared to put my hand inside it, so a clean up before I started to create with it.

I wanted it to be a statement piece and I think I've managed that.
It is sitting on a wooden plaque covered in material that was soaked in Powertex medium then dry brushed with rich gold pigments.

For the shoe I created the toe piece then wrapped the shoe in material worked with Black Powertex and then started the decoration using doilies and some steampunk embellishments.

As an ornament the shoe could hold make up brushes or a small bottle of wine but to be honest I would be tempted not to add a thing as I love it as it is.
