Project Started

Today I picked up the trim that I needed for my project so it was time to get this started, it will be a Chenille Tablecloth and I am so excited that I will finally get the vintage look that I wanted for my table.

It came to me in a light bulb moment that a Chenille Curtain material would be perfect if the width was right, why oh why didn’t I think of that 27 years ago is beyond me as I used to make all of my own curtains. I headed over to Terry’s Fabrics and there it was the perfect material to make the long wanted cover for my table Woven Chenille Fabric Kensington.

The hardest part to get started was finding the right trim and believe me I searched long and hard but found it on my own doorstep in our local haberdashery, they didn’t have enough as I needed 8 metres of it but they kindly ordered it in for me.

So I made the cut tonight, it has been a few years since I did any fabric sewing and I was more than apprehensive on cutting the fabric but it cut like a dream with my steadfast Fiskers shears, I even used my Tim Holtz ruler and managed to dig out my tailors pencil.

I will post my progress as I go along. Isn’t it all so luxurious?

Lighthouse–From the Heart Stamps

I’m not sure what it is that draws me to Lighthouse images, maybe because when I was young I used to watch the Lighthouse from my bedroom window when I should have been sleeping blinking on and off guiding the sea vessels safely on their way or maybe because I lost a brother to the sea but I love them.

This Lighthouse digital Stamp by From the Heart Stamps is amongst my favourites, it also comes with a couple of sentiments too.

I used a pitt pastel pencil (chalk pencil) for the guiding light and I think it worked well.

Bird Brew

With valentines just around the corner many of us struggle to find a card for our partners that isn’t pink or red or one that is gushing with soppiness but says how we feel about them.

I think Birdbrain Brew at From the Heart stamps will do very nicely.

Coloured with Copic Markers and Chalk Pencils, I also used some liquid applique on the froth, Buttons, Raffia and matting and layering to make the card complete.

A New Craft for me.

I have took delivery of the most sumptuous material, ever since I first got married I've wanted something for my home but have never been able to find the right size or the right look.

I found the material at Terry's Fabrics and new it was just what I needed, I need to find some trim for it and I will be giving my sewing machine a whirl.

I'm not making curtains, I'm not making cushions but I am making something that my Nanna (Grandmother) used to have.

Can you guess what I'm making?

I'm dying to get started.

Broked

Some things just make your heart melt don’t they?

This image Broked from Mo’s Digital Pencil does just that.

I felt that this card needed to be clean and simple.

Coloured with Copic Markers and chalk pencils, keeping the pastel tones soft and delicate.

The sentiment comes with the image and is perfect for it.

Last week while I was in Peterborough I bought a new pillow, I had been awaking on a morning with such pain in my neck and head and believe me I had bought and tried so many pillows trying to find some comfort, I used the powers of Facebook and I had so many people recommended the Dunlopillo that I decided to test it out, I found it in John Lewis a couple of different ones so I asked the assistant if I could try them, although a little hesitant I persuaded her to clear one of the display beds and there I was in the middle of a busy shop testing all of the pillows.

The result is 5 nights good sleep and no discomfort in the morning, a little discomfort to my purse as it was £60.00 eeeek! But to be honest I’d of paid double to get a comfy sleep.

Jack Update

A few of you had mentioned that you hadn’t seen Jack for a little while, well I can tell you he is a very busy lad these days, schooling is keeping him out of mischief and he loves it.

We picked him up from School last Friday and he was thrilled to see us, it was the first time we had collected him from school so it was lovely.

On Tuesday evening I left work and went straight to collect him as his Mam had to go to work so he was having his Tea with us and then we were to take him home and put him to bed and wait for his Mam coming home.

We were having a roast pork dinner and we sat around the dinner table that he prepared with placemats and knives, forks and condiments (he loves little jobs) and we chattered away, we spoke about dinosaurs which he is very knowledgeable about and then went on to chatting about tusks and how Rhino horns are made from the same substance as hair.

Once the table was cleared and dishes done he played catchy around the table with Granda until Granda went dizzy ha ha!

The Chris had to go to the station “I know” he’s supposed to be retired but things crop up and he had to go along, of course Jack went with him and as the lads were doing their training Jack stepped in as Chief and gave them their orders.
