Pain..... it's a pain.

Some days it's a struggle, some days it's good and some days it knocks you sideways.
I think managing pain has to be one of the hardest things to do.
When I was young I thought it was only old people that got daily pain, as you grow into the world you soon realise it can hit anyone at any time.
It even gives you a sense of humour, I have found many people who suffer pain have the biggest sense of humour. The phrase "if I didn't laugh I'd cry" comes to mind.
I decided to write this after suffering a real flair up in my own condition, I suffer from Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. Normally I have it under control and manageable.
I won't talk meds as everyone is different but I do take a cocktail of injections and tablets to keep me right.

So what has happened to give me the flair up that has knocked me sideways... who knows?
I recently had to do an increase on meds to try to get everything back the way is was and manageable again, I get sick of hearing myself moan about the pain and yes sometimes I cry when no one can see me but I try to steer clear of the self pity route but let me tell you it is damned hard when you are hurting.
So double the meds and the feeling of walking through a dream until your body adjusts, wanting to fall asleep every time you sit down, frightened to drive because of the fatigue.
Hearing phrases like "you look well" and thinking if you only knew the half of it.
Oh and to top it all off my gorgeous Daughter gets married in two weeks and I have the favours to make.

So for now I am putting on the happy face and doing the things I can do and leaving the things I can't.

Jak x

Aw bless you Hun, the things we have to take and do to get us through each day. Thinking of you and hope the medication rights itself and your body. Life eh. Hang in there. We all need a cry now and again and we pick ourselves back up again. Big hugs xxxx

I had no idea Jak. You always give us a happy front. I understand what you mean about pain. I have ME and associated rheumatoid arthritis, though my pain is nowhere near what yours must be. I can go upstairs absolutely fine but then be unable to get downstairs. I'm constantly tired. But as you say, people comment "you look well" and you stop yourself from telling them exactly how you feel. Well done you for doing what you do despite your problems. Enjoy making your daughters favours (I wish I had to make my daughter's - I don't think she will ever get married!) xx

Not like you Jak so it must really be getting you down. The one good thing tho...is if it really gets bad you have multitudes of crafty friends who can help with the favours. ❤

Aw, really sorry to hear of your pain problems Jak, I had no idea you suffered so much. I'm lucky that I don't suffer as you do, but I really sympathise with you, it must be awful for you. But try to stay brave and hope your daughter's wedding is wonderful xx

I am so sorry for your pain Jak. I know how you feel I too have fibromyalgia and have really bad days and also better ones, but hopefully still look the same on the outside, So it is quite comforting to know that someone thinks the same as me, trying not to show it on the outside. My crafting keeps me going.

Sooo sorry to hear, it´s hit you again Jak. I know only too well, what you´re saying, as I´m in the same boat, and behave exactly the same way, and I also know, how hard it can be sometimes to find that happy face, when everything in your body just hurt soo darned every single minute, and you haven´t been able to sleep for it for days. I really hope for you, that you´ll be able to get it all back to be manageable again, so you can enjoy your daughters wedding. My thoughts are with you hun.

Hello Jak: Sorry you are not well and are in pain. Hopefully the meds will work quickly to make you comfortable and give you strength to do the things you need to do. Sometimes that stiff upper lip needs to turn into a big old lower lip pout and you need to take time for a few tears. All the best from the other side of the world!

Hi Jak. It could have been me writing the blog because that is exactly how I feel.
As you say because you look ok they think there is nothing wrong. I had a complete knee replacement in February ( and still in a lot of pain) but I also have a back problem and since surgery my sciatic nerve has been jumping up and down 24/7 . But as you say you put on a brave face. I cannot wait to see you in all your finery as I follow your blog so canot wait for the pics. If not more blogs have a wonderful time. Mavis Lx

Jak I know what you are going through as I too have Fibromyalgia. I get fed up with people saying pace yourself because when I have a ``Good`` day I push myself and when it`s bad I still push. People also say to me I look well and because they see me smile or laugh I must be better. Try not to worry about your Daughter`s big day because that will only make you worse. Enjoy the Wedding and don`t be afraid to cry sometimes it helps. Sending you Peace and joy Tina xx

Jak,
I am so sorry.
I know constant pain and it's no fun.
It does make you laugh sometimes. I can tell some pretty funny stories about it.
In the end, it's our sense of humor and love of life that keep us going.
And you, my dear - All of your talent and your great little family.
Blessings and many hugs,

Em
