Marianne Design Creatables

Not a stamp in sight.

I desided to give Marianne Design Creatables a whirl and I have to say that the end result is very pleasing. I used the ornate frames and after die cutting I used a teal ink to sponge in the center of the frames I did the flourish with a dark teal card for contrast and then used the ribbon flower dies and slotted sheer white ribbon through the flower.

I layered it all on a cream sqaure piece of card just slightly smaller than the base card. the back frames are glued directly onto the cream card but the center frame was added with foam pads to add dimension to the card.

Pro's for Marianne dies is they are beautiful designs.

Cons are they do not always cut clean through the card and they tend to get sruck in the dies.

Jak, hope you are keeping OK. What a beautiful card. I know what you mean about the dies as I've struggled with one I've bought and not used it much as no matter what I've tried the pokey tool has come out to get it out and always one corner gets damaged and has to be hidden. I'd love to be in with a chance of winning one of your lovely creations. Best wishes, Kym xxx

I have the same die and had the same problem. I read somewhere that putting a piece of waxed paper between the die and the card stock helps. I have not tried it yet but it is worth a try!

I did a lot of research before I bought a couple of MD's and you're right, some do get stuck & some even leave a faint blueness to the edge of the die-cut! That said...they still make the most beautiful flourishes to cards & you can get quite addicted to them...this is gorgeous XXX

Well what can I say? Love it - favourite colour for starters. Love the look of that delicate frame. I haven't seen these dies, but have fallen in love with them, they are definitely on my wish list! I do have some swirl and flower punches - so thanks for the inspiration on how to use them, and thankyou to the others that have posted tips on how to make the dies more user friendly. Crafters are so helpful!

This is beautiful Jak - I love the design and the colours you hve used. I have this particular die and it has always cut cleanly for me. The swirls do tend to stay in the die but I just press a little blue tack onto the cardstock and they pull away very easily.

I’ve been following your posts for a while now and just had to comment on this card. The colours are just fabulous and I love the flower and swirls you’ve used. I only have one of the Marianne Design dies but I had the same problem as you and this has put me off buying any more. A chance to win the card is a lovely idea.

Hi Jak
What a beautiful card I would love to win it. As regards the dies sticking I have that problem and after some research I found a few answer to the problem although I haven't tried any yet as I am too busy playing my new nesties.

1. Rubbing the card with a tumble drier sheet
2. Rubbing a candle over them a few times then buffing up to form a wax barrier
3. Put some wax paper between the card & the die
4. Rubbing a little bit of talc on the die before cutting

Hope these help you and anyone else reading this.

Hi there have only recently started to receive your newsletters and I'm hooked. Love the card with creatables, just my coulours. I have a couple of dies and have found they don't always cut cleanly but have put an extra piece of thin card in with A, B and C plates on cuttlebug and that seems to do the trick. Would you enter me for the draw please. Best wishes Eileen, Birmingham.

Wow! Such an innovative and gorgeous card. I love your colours and the 3D look. The flourishes are a perfect finishing touch.

Interesting to read your review and to see the Marianne Design Creatables in action as I've seen them in the shops, but haven't used them.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Purple Crazy said...

Wow, never thought of using them like that, it's gorgeous. ihave quite a few now, just love the flourishes. I often pop a spare bit of paper in too, helps them to cut cleanly, and use a pin to gently lift one bit, then they seem to come out ok. xx

Tine said...

Wonderful card, Jak. I thought it was only me that the paper and card got stuck in the dies for! LOL. I still like the dies from Marianne Creatables though, particularly the snowflakes.

I usually use my 'pokey tool' to carefully encourage the paper out from the die. For when it doesn't seem to be cutting cleanly through my chosen paper, I use ordinary printer paper to go through the cutter at the same time which seems to do the trick, though I suppose it will depend on the thickness of the paper or card you are using.

This is a stunning card & all from die cuts xx

I love using Marianne Designs creaTables, I know excatly what you mean that pieces get stuck! I find if you do a dummy run 1st, & leave that paper in, then do what you want, it is easier to come out!
I found this out with a leaf shape, very small & delicate, when I did the above, it made my life easier xx
