Chris Heath Choo Choo Makings

THIS IS CHRIS HEATH TAKING OVER JAK'S BLOG FOR THE DAY

Here it is then (after a lot of ribbing from Jak) my nearly finnished Country Fire Station for my model train set I have in the loft.

As you can see it is a very busy drill session, or it will be once I get all the figures glued into position.

The scale of the scene (if anyone is interested) is 1/76th, and stands a grand 6 1/2'' high.

Oh by the way, I will not be starting my own blog!!

The paving stone surround is formed from individual paving stones, not appreciated by jak when I had to use her eyebrow tweezers to lay them in place. Where the wall meets the paving I added grass as if it was growing in the damp of the wall. A couple of bushes were added to the entrance of the station and a red telephone box on the outside of the wall.

Front view of the station, you can just about see the airbrushing around the wall buttress's.

All of the perimiter walls were made seperate out of a sheet of acrylic, then wrapped in brickwork that I downloaded onto a A4 label sheet and stuck it to the acrylic.

The fireman is adjusting the wheeled escape (big ladder) from the AEC Regent Mark3 engine.

You can see the grass around the base of the wall I built.

Phase 2

Now to show you all my crafting space, it is now a HIS & HERS zone, this was took while I was in the process of making a Railway Siding Shed.

I found a nifty little site called ScaleScenes it has some free downloads so that you can make your own models.

Work in progress, I have all the tools, glue, cocktail stick, knife, steel ruler, cutting mat, I just know you will be green with envy at my craft tools.

Side view of the railway siding shed

Front view of the railway siding shed, the door is a working sliding door.

For a man with hands like shovels and fingers the size of pork sausages I don't think I did too badly, what do you think?

Congratulations, Chris. It's good to see another DH who has to borrow his wife's tools to finish a particular project. My DH no longer feels like he's one of a kind. I always like to remind him that it's a well known fact that the family who crafts together stays together!!!

Hugz......

PS I have a young nephew who would almost kill to be able to add such a treasure to his collection.

WOW, love the fire station and the shed - with the sliding door aren't you very clever! I wish I made some buildings with my train sets. My dad has my sets somewhere in his loft, when I go visiting again, I must get them out and see if they still work (it's been quite a long time!!!!!)
Can't wait to see more.

Hello Chris!

I love your Country Fire Station! Wonderful! Hopefully we will see more of your creations now that you share a His and Hers crafting area! :<) I love miniatures and appreciate all the time it takes to work with these small pieces and to find accessories that match in scale. Great project!

Wishing you a good day today!

Just sitting here shaking my head thinking WOW! WOW! One family, so much talent and I just love the spirit that goes with the creative designs. Thank you both for sharing, I'm not always good at creating but sure love to marvel at what other folks achieve.

Blessings to the new his/her work space, may your glue be sticky, fingers be nimble and tweezers left alone for eyebrows only. ;)

Happy New Year to you both.

Your fire station is great Chris! I make dolls houses so I was very interested to see your handiwork. Love the grass effect. Would love to see more of your work, you should definately start a blog. Hugs Christine x

Superb work Chris and you definitely need to have your own blog to chart your progress. Those thick as pork sausage fingers (not as thick as Theodore's sausages hopefully - lol!) have done an amazing job. Not sure how long you'll be allowed to continue sharing Jak's crafting space though .......... *grin*

Chris, this is quite brilliant! As an avid Model Railway fan and model maker myself, I don't think i've seen such detail in any model as this one! Well done mate! Keep up the good work!

Bravo Chris. As a crafter I have the greatest admiration for you as a model maker. I shouldn't imagine Jack has been anywhere near it.

Seasons Greetings to you both.

Well my hubby does have his own blog and I think you should start one to, and has posted some photos of his granddaughters opening the presents her created for them, two dolls beds. But Ive got to admit he will be green with envy when he sees what youve been upto, they are fabulous. Though he does play with the real things he does volunteer work at our local steam engine restoration Society FOD railway. With love and hugs Shirleyx

WAUW what an awesome job done here. It´s really awesome Chris. I just had to show it to my better half here and he was also just in awe over your gorgeous project. Both the firestation and the shed is really fabulous and you should definately make your own blog to follow up on this in the future. And maybe you should get another table there beside Jak´s too, now we are at it? he he he Then you would make the perfect working couple there and maybe you should go and get her a new eyebrowetweezer, then you could keep this one as your own? he he he. Really wonderful job mate, keep it up and show us more in the future too please?
Have a Happy New Year to both of you.

WoW!! It's Fabulous. A true work of art, right down to the phone box! LOve it all.
A shared table that looks just fine! Just short of coffee cups.

p.s. I think you should get more time space on Jak's blog you deserve it!!

I gotta say that this is absolutely fantastic. I am always facinated by model scenes and the fact that you have made this from scratch is terribly clever especially given the pork sausage fingers and shovel hands!!! Thank goodness you were able to use Jak's eyebrow tweazers. You would, no doubt, have been in bigger trouble if you had used her craft tweazers! A lovely job and thank you so much for sharing. I want to see the rest of the model now...please! Warmest wishes, Lesley

You've done a grand job Chris. Jak doesn't know how lucky she is that her husband wants to use her craft stash - at least you're not gonna moan when she wants to buy a new bit of kit - just in case you want to borrow it. All I get from my OH is 'Oh no, not more rubbish'.

Absolutely fantastic work Chris, my husband too has sausage fingers and he has done a little bit of crafting but nothing as delicate as this. I would love to see more of your work.

Chris, you did a wonderful job on the Fire Station. Now you need your own work table. Thanks for sharing I love to see crafts other folks are doing.

This looks absolutely fantastic. I am sure Jak won't mind you 'borrowing' her stuff or her space at all.

WOW! what detail and what a perfectionist you are - individual paving stones no less and an acrylic sheet covered in
'brickwork' paper - extremely impressive. Psssst! how about a few daffodils, just to add the final touch.
I bow to your patience and perseverance not to mention your UNDOUBTED skill. BRAVO! Would love to see more of your work.

Hi hope you see this (so long after original post) I'm a crafter from papercrafts to jewellery now. My hubs would love a model railway but reckons he too has hands like shovels,no patience & now shakes a bit (a lot!) I'll show him your beautiful work hoping it will inspire him.
Our son is a fireman so will be showing him your chippy too.
Beautiful work, I hope it's still ongoing x
